Interviews

Fred Lerner of MailPix

An exclusive Tech Tribune Q&A with Fred Lerner, the founder and CEO of MailPix, which was honored in our:
Tell us the origin story of MailPix – what problem were you trying to solve and why?

MailPix is my 7th startup. Our flagship app is 1HourPhoto that connects everyone’s phone with over 20,000 retailers including CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Target, and Duane Reade. I’ve spent a lifetime in the photographic industry making prints from film and now making prints digitally from phones. People take photos every day on their phones, but no one knew how to make a print from their phones easily and conveniently – we’re now printing millions of photos. We figured it out!

What was the biggest hurdle you encountered in your journey?

No business is without it’s own unique challenges, but after acquiring over 20 companies and seeing their mistakes, we designed a business model that is as close to foolproof as possible and we have been consistently executing it since the beginning.

What does the future hold for MailPix?

MailPix is raising additional capital for advertising and marketing. When people hear about our 1HourPhoto app, they love it and use it over and over. We just need to get the word spread.

What are your thoughts on the local tech startup scene in Huntington Beach?

More important than location are the ideas that entrepreneurs have that will make the difference.

What’s your best advice for aspiring entrepreneurs?

There are several timeless, tried, and true axioms that I recommend to any aspiring businessperson, especially entrepreneurs…hard work, persistence, and determination will ultimately win out!
