Interviews

James Sansbury of Tugboat

An exclusive Tech Tribune Q&A with James Sansbury (co-founder and Director of Product) of Tugboat, which was honored in our:
Tell us the origin story of Tugboat – what problem were you trying to solve and why?

Lullabot built Tugboat to solve a big bottleneck in the typical software delivery lifecycle: that of getting feedback, sign off, and QA on in-progress work, and getting it early and often.

What was the biggest hurdle you encountered in your journey?

I think patience has been the biggest hurdle: continuing to show up and believe in what you do, even on the days it feels Sisyphean.

What does the future hold for Tugboat?

We’ve got some exciting things on our roadmap, including enhanced features to our automated Google Lighthouse integration, and deepening our partnerships with other great companies out there like Testery and Punchlist.

What’s your best advice for aspiring entrepreneurs?

A favorite quote of mine, which comes from The Tiny MBA by Alex Hillman: “Most success you see is the result of being able to do the right thing long enough.” Maybe my advice is actually, “go buy that book!”
