Samsung Unveils Industry’s First SD Express-Compatible MicroSD Card with Blazing 800 MB/s Speed

Samsung Electronics has unveiled the industry’s first microSD memory card supporting SD Express, boasting a data transfer speed of 800 MB/s, surpassing SATA SSDs and quadrupling UHS-1 cards’ speeds. These cards will feature thermal protection using Dynamic Thermal Guard technology and will initially be available in a 256 GB version.

However, to fully utilize these cards, devices supporting the SD Express interface are required, which are currently limited in availability. Samsung has also commenced mass production of 1 TB microSD cards based on eighth-generation V-NAND flash memory, set to hit the market in the third quarter. Dates for the release of SD Express-supported cards have yet to be announced by Samsung.
