Tell us the origin story of XPAND Gaming – what problem were you trying to solve and why?
The inspiration for the platform came from my experiences as a YouTube gaming content creator and the challenges I faced monetizing and building a community around my content. Xpand’s mission is to help gamers develop deeper connections and provide more opportunities for pursuing their passion for gaming as a potential career or income source.
What was the biggest hurdle you encountered in your journey?
The biggest hurdles I’ve encountered so far in my entrepreneurial journey have been around building a team and crafting a perfect pitch, I am constantly learning!
What does the future hold for XPAND Gaming?
In the future, Xpand will intersect into the VR, blockchain gaming, NFT, and crypto spaces.
What are your thoughts on the local tech startup scene in Winston-Salem?
The local tech startup scene in Winston-Salem is surprising because it’s more robust than one would initially think. I’ve been able to meet, and build relationships with, many fellow entrepreneurs and mentors that have helped me more than they know, whether it’s from a casual chat over coffee or a more formal event.
What’s your best advice for aspiring entrepreneurs?
My best advice would be to not be hesitant to tell others about what you’re doing. Once you say you’re building a business, it becomes more real!
