AI Camera System Catches 300 Drivers in First 3 Days
Police in Cornwall, England, rapidly saw results from an AI camera system designed to improve road safety. Within 72 hours of installation along the A30 road, it detected nearly 300 drivers breaking the law by offenses like not wearing seatbelts or texting while driving. After five more days, this number rose to 1,000.
The system, created by AI technology company Acusensus, uses high-speed cameras and AI to review images of passing vehicles, flagging potential offenders. If an offense is confirmed, the driver receives a notice of warning or intended prosecution. This technology is part of a broader trend of using AI-powered cameras to enforce road safety and deter unlawful behavior on highways and in public transportation systems worldwide.
