Casio Upgrades G-Shock with Fitness and Heart Rate Tracking
Casio is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the G-Shock digital watch by releasing several variants based on the original design, including the GW5000U-1, which has improved waterproofing, a rechargeable battery, and an antenna for broadcasting accurate time. The new G-Shock DWH5600 has an optical heart rate monitor, an accelerometer, and a Bluetooth connection to a smartphone for displaying notifications and leveraging GPS for accurate fitness tracking.
It has solar charging but also comes with a wired charger. The watch has a fully pixelated screen, improved backlight, and can track walks, runs, workouts, cardio load, blood oxygen levels, and sleep quality. Other features include water resistance, world time adjustments, a stopwatch, countdown timer, alarms, and silent vibrating alerts. The G-Shock DWH5600 is available for pre-order for $299 on Casio’s website, with full availability starting on May 19.
