New Tool Cleanly Removes Copyrighted Audio from Video

On July 4, YouTube introduced an updated eraser tool for creators to remove copyrighted music from their videos without affecting other audio elements like dialogue or sound effects. YouTube chief Neal Mohan announced this on X, highlighting the tool’s ability to remove copyright-claimed music while keeping other audio intact.

The tool employs an AI-powered algorithm for precise detection and removal of copyrighted songs. However, YouTube warns that the tool may not always successfully isolate and remove the song, and suggests alternative options like muting all sound or trimming the claimed segments if needed. Once the video is edited successfully, YouTube removes the content ID claim.
