Nintendo Switch 2: 1080p 120Hz Display, 4K Dock, Mouse Mode
Nintendo has unveiled key details about the Switch 2, set to launch on June 5th. The console features a 7.9-inch 1080p HDR LCD screen with a 120Hz variable refresh rate. It maintains the original Switch’s thickness but introduces larger Joy-Con controllers that attach magnetically and can function like a mouse in compatible games. Battery life ranges from 2 to 6.5 hours, depending on usage.
The Switch 2 boasts 256GB of storage, dual USB-C ports (only the bottom one supports docking), and supports 4K 60fps gameplay when docked. It has a custom Nvidia processor, Wi-Fi 6, and a redesigned Pro Controller with new rear buttons, a headphone jack, and a “C” button for chat features. GameShare allows local sharing of compatible titles, and the console supports microSD Express cards (but not original Switch microSD cards).
The system is backward-compatible with original Switch cartridges, and game cards now come in red. Nintendo will release a Switch 2 Welcome Tour digital game at launch to introduce its features. The dock has been redesigned with a rounder shape and a built-in fan for cooling.
