PlayStation 6 Chip, Powered by AMD, Nearing Completion

Sony and AMD are collaborating on the PlayStation 6, with the chip design reportedly complete and nearing the manufacturing phase. A leak from tipster KeplerL2 indicates the console’s system-on-a-chip (SoC) has entered pre-silicon validation, with an “A0 tapeout” scheduled for late 2025, suggesting a potential 2027 release.

The PS6 is expected to feature AMD’s Zen 6 architecture on TSMC’s 3nm process and an early fork of AMD’s “gfx13” GPU under the “UDNA” architecture. Sony outbid Intel to continue its AMD partnership, and rumors suggest the console may adopt 3D V-Cache technology for enhanced performance.
