Zillow Starts Showing Climate Risks for US Properties
Zillow has announced that its U.S. real estate listings will soon include detailed climate risk information, such as the likelihood of wildfires, flooding, extreme temperatures, high winds, and poor air quality. This data, provided through a partnership with First Street, will be available on Zillow’s website and iOS app by the end of the year, and on its Android app in early 2024.
Zillow’s search map will feature color-coded highlights to indicate areas at risk, with each type of risk having its own severity scale. A new climate risk section on listings will show current and future risks, helping buyers assess potential insurance needs. This feature aims to increase awareness, especially since many homes affected by disasters like flooding aren’t in areas where insurance is mandatory.
