Apple Planning Significantly Slimmer Devices
Last month, Apple introduced its thinnest product ever, the 5.1mm thick 13-inch M4 iPad Pro. Apple plans to extend this ultra-thin design approach to other products, including the iPhone, Apple Watch, and MacBook Pro. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this new iPad Pro marks the beginning of a series of Apple devices aimed at being the “thinnest and lightest in their categories.”
Gurman confirms that the upcoming iPhone 17 will feature a significantly thinner design, expected in 2025. Apple is also developing slimmer versions of the MacBook Pro and Apple Watch. The latest MacBook Pro had become thicker and heavier with its 2021 redesign due to the transition to Apple Silicon and the reintroduction of ports like MagSafe, HDMI, and an SD card slot. The anticipated ‘Apple Watch X’ is also rumored to be a major redesign.
While the release dates for these thinner MacBook Pro and Apple Watch models are not specified, the M4 iPad Pro signifies the start of Apple’s next-generation design trend focused on ultra-thin and lightweight products.
