First Forever-Chemical-Free Battery With 20% More Power
Ateios Systems, a US-based battery component manufacturer, has announced the creation of RaiCore High-Voltage Lithium Cobalt Oxide (HV LCO) electrodes, leading to the world’s first perfluoroalkoxy-free (PFA), rechargeable LCO battery. These electrodes boast 15-20% more energy density than standard LCOs and are competitively priced. The innovation stems from Ateios’ RaiCure technology, which uses a chemistry-agnostic, energy-curable process to replace traditional PFA-laden methods, resulting in high-energy, high-quality, and environmentally compliant batteries.
RaiCore prototypes showed over 80% capacity retention after 1000 cycles at 1C and full depth of discharge. The eco-friendly electrodes are suitable for consumer electronics and are being tested by various device developers, including Softmatter, for integration into products like wearable and AR/VR devices. Ateios is providing sample packs for global integration into existing battery products.
