Gun-Armed Robot Overwhelms Russian Trench

In May, Ukrainian developers introduced the Fury, an armed ground robot, and four months later, it participated in its first major combat in Russia’s Kursk Oblast. The four-wheeled, armored robot, coordinated with explosive drones and mortars, attacked a Russian trench, reportedly defeating a small group of soldiers. Despite sustaining hits from rocket-propelled grenades and drones, the Fury completed its mission and returned safely.

The Fury, one of several unmanned ground vehicles developed by Ukraine during the war, is noted for its mobility, durability, and effective communication systems. It is equipped with a machine gun, video cameras, and a radio for operator commands. The robot’s first battle occurred in the village of Volfino, part of Ukraine’s broader offensive in Kursk Oblast. Despite the challenges faced by ground robots, such as rough terrain and obstacles, the Fury’s design allows it to navigate and perform effectively in combat. This operation is part of Ukraine’s attempt to encircle Russian forces in the region.
