Leaked UI Elements Hint at Spotify’s Potential Lossless Audio Release
Spotify users have been eagerly anticipating the release of a lossless audio tier promised by the platform. Recently leaked UI elements suggest that the project is still in development and possibly nearing release. These screenshots depict features such as a device compatibility checker and lossless streaming quality of up to 1,411kbps, with potential for even higher quality. Additionally, support for FLAC audio format and 24-bit/44.1kHz resolution is hinted at.
However, these UI elements are not functional yet, and Spotify is reportedly internally referring to the feature as “enhanced listening” rather than HiFi. The leaked screenshots also indicate a rebranding of HiFi to “Lossless.” Despite assurances from Spotify, users remain skeptical due to past delays and broken promises, especially considering that competitors like Amazon Music, Apple Music, and Tidal already offer high-resolution audio.
