Milestone: 98% Survival Rate Across 400 Robotic Surgeries

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSH&RC) in Saudi Arabia has achieved a 98% survival rate across 400 robotic cardiac surgeries since the program’s inception in February 2019. This milestone underscores the hospital’s global leadership in robotic cardiac care, with significant improvements in patient outcomes compared to traditional methods. The robotic surgeries have reduced blood transfusions and mechanical ventilation time, leading to faster recovery, fewer complications, and shorter hospital stays by over 50%, resulting in a 40% cost reduction.

The program has successfully performed complex procedures, including multi-valve operations and aortic valve replacements, and is the only hospital globally to perform robotic cardiac surgeries on children. This achievement aligns with the global shift towards value-based healthcare, focusing on better patient outcomes and cost-efficiency.
