DeepSeek Releases Groundbreaking New Image Generator
DeepSeek has released a new set of multimodal AI models, Janus-Pro, which it claims outperform OpenAI’s DALL-E 3. Ranging from 1 billion to 7 billion parameters, these models are available under an MIT license for commercial use. Janus-Pro, based on a novel autoregressive framework, can analyze and generate images, with its largest model, Janus-Pro-7B, surpassing DALL-E 3 and other leading models in AI benchmarks.
Despite some resolution limitations, Janus-Pro’s performance is notable given its compact size. DeepSeek, backed by High-Flyer Capital Management, gained attention after its chatbot app topped the Apple App Store, raising questions about U.S. dominance in AI and the future demand for AI chips.
