Android Users Can Now Access iMessage for $1.99/Month
Beeper, a startup led by former Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky, has developed a new app called Beeper Mini that enables Android users to send and receive end-to-end encrypted iMessage chats for $1.99 per month. The app reverse-engineers the iMessage protocol, allowing it to function as a native iMessage client without using a Mac server as a relay.
Beeper Mini supports high-resolution photos and videos, threads, replies, read receipts, group chats, emoji reactions, and more. It encrypts messages on the device before leaving the app, ensuring security. The app aims to bring iMessage functionality to Android users, challenging Apple’s closed ecosystem.
